3rd Annual Buenos Aires Chili Cook Off

They say third time's the charm, but we have been rather lucky with our Annual BA Chili Cook Off. This is the third year and each year it just keeps growing. The first year we expected 100 people to show up, 300 showed up! The second year we expected 500, 700 showed up! This time we should be a around 1,000 people. It's a little harder to gauge because it is on Father's Day, but what father wouldn't like a family festive atmosphere tasting good food, with artisan beer surrounded by friends and family?
Hemos tenido mucha suerte con nuestro BA Chili Cook Off. Este es el tercer año y cada año sigue creciendo. El primero pensábamos que 100 personas vendrían, vinieron 300! En el segundo pensábamos que vendrían 500, vinieron 700! Este año pensamos que vendrán alrededor de mil personas! Es un poco más difícil de calcular ya que es el día del padre, pero decime, a que padre no le gustaría ir a un lugar con clima festivo, de familia, comiendo rica comida casera y cerveza artesanal?

To accommodate the demand we are holding the event at a much larger venue at Vicente Lopez 2134, in Recoleta.
Esta vez vamos a tener la fiesta en un lugar mucho más grande! Queda en Vicente Lopez 2134, en Recoleta, al lado del Village Shopping.

There are three ways to participate:            Va a ver tres formas de participar:

1. Eat / Comer
2. Cook / Cocinar
3. Judge / Juzgar

1. Eat - You just show up at 2pm, buy tickets at the door that are good for purchasing chili, beer, water, wine from Anuva Wines, cookies from Sugar & Spice, cornbread, El Tejano Hot Sauces, etc. The tickets are sold in books of $100 at the door and inside we will have further books of $50. The tickets are in $5 and $10 peso denominations. 
1. Comer - Simplemente venís a las 14 horas, compras unos vales en la puerta. Un libro de vales cuesta $100 y se usan para consumir todo adentro: chili, cerveza, agua, vino, cookies, cornbread, salsa picante, etc.

This year we are also planning on having fresh baked cookies right there at the event. You will have fresh from the oven warm goodness!
Este año también planificamos hornear galletitas allí en el evento!

We are also counting on artisan beer from The Mula Cervezas Especiales and Cerveza Kraken!
Tambien vamos a tener cerveza artesanal de The Mule Cervezas Especiales y Cerveza Kraken!

The chili will last until it's consumed by all. The previous years it was all gone by about 5pm! Don't arrive too fashionably late or it will be gone.
El Chili va a durar hasta que se consuma todo. En los previos eventos ya para las 17 horas se habia terminado todo. No vengan muy tarde!

2. Cook - If you think no one makes chili quite like you do, then step up and show us how it's done. There is a $100 fee that goes right into the Cook's Prize Pot. The more cooks we have, the bigger the potential cash prize for this prize! Besides, the cooks have a blast during this whole thing! The cooks will get a free 1ltr of beer, an official BA Chili Cook Off and SACS apron and goodies from Sugar & Spice.
2. Cocinar - Si vos pensás que nadie sabe hacer chili como vos, o que haces los mejores guisos en el mundo y chili es simplemente otro guiso entonces tenes que aplicar! Cada cocinero da $100 pesos que se junta para el premio de Cook's Choice. Cada cocinero prueba los chilis y vota. Cada cocinero va a recibir un litro de cerveza, un delantal oficial del evento y otros mimos mas de parte de Sugar & Spice.

3. Judge - If you think you know chili and you want to give each and every chili a try, and have a lot of fun doing it, then you need to apply for a judge position. We are asking for a donation of $300. You show up 2 hours ahead of the crowd and blind taste the best chili in Buenos Aires!
3. Juzgar - Si quieres probar absolutamente todos los chilis en el evento y te quieres divertir un montón, necesitas aplicar. Para ser juez, pedimos una donación de $300. Venís 2 horas antes de que el publico venga y probas todas las chilis a ciegas.

The Annual BA Chili Cook Off is held to raise money to be donated to NGO's. This year we are working once again with SACS - Send a Child to SchoolFounded in 1999, SACS, a non-profit organization, helps underprivileged children in Buenos Aires. Specifically, SACS provides essential school supplies (backpacks, lab coats, shoes, paper, pens, etc.) to these children so that they are ready to learn on the first day of school.
El Annual BA Chili Cook Off se hace cada año para recaudar fondos y donar los mismos a fundaciones sin fines de lucro. Este año volvemos a trabajar con SACS-Send a Child to School. Fundada en 1999, es una fundación que ayuda a chicos de pocos recursos en Buenos Aires. Específicamente, proveen los útiles esenciales (mochilas, papel, lapices, etc.) para estos chicos para que esten listos para aprender en su primer día escolar.
We also organize this event to have fun, to share in that fun, and as a way to share our culture with our new neighbors.

También lo organizamos para divertirnos, para compartir en la diversión y para compartir un poco de nuestra cultura con ustedes, nuestros nuevos vecinos.
