The New American Way?

The new American way.... We are casual observers at best; we have been relegated to the nosebleed seats. Every four years we are now allowed to vote for whom our large corporate anonymous overlords have decided we could vote for (thank you Citizens United).

La nueva orden Estadounidense... somos observadores casuales, nos han relegado a las sillas mas lejanas del estadio. Cada cuatro años nos dejan votar por los que nuestros amos anónimos corporativos han elegido para nosotros (Gracias a Citizens United en castellano).

But, not everything has to be that way.... Chili doesn't have to be that way.

Pero no todo tiene que ser así... El "chili" no tiene que ser así.

And so here we are with our 2nd Annual Buenos Aires Chili Cookoff and we are going to give each and every one of you the power to judge.

Ahora nos encontramos con el 2nd Anual Buenos Aires Chili Cookoff y les vamos a dar a cada uno de ustedes el poder de juzgar el mejor chili.

Este es el cambio más significativo que implementamos en comparación al evento del año pasado. Si quieren leer sobre ese evento y como empezó todo esto pueden ir acá.

Yes, we are still going to have judges and yes they are still very important. In fact, to be a judge they  had to make a donation of $200 pesos. They get to taste the chili before everyone else and they get some nice goody bags from our sponsors as well as recognition for choosing the winner of this much coveted distinction.

Sí, vamos a volver a tener jueces y siguen siendo muy importantes. Nuestros jueces tuvieron que donar $200 pesos. En cambio ellos llegan temprano y prueban el chili antes que el resto de la gente y reciben una bolsa con regalos de algunos de nuestros sponsors. También tienen la responsabilidad de elegir el ganador!

Another major change from last year is that this year we are going to donate the proceeds to SACS / NALE. This is a great grass roots non profit:

"Send a Child to School – SACS helps an increasing number of children each year by providing the school supplies essential for a successful education. Each child receives a backpack containing notebooks, paper, pencils, erasers (as required by grade level), as well as shoes, socks and the regulation lab coat."

Otro gran cambio en comparación al año pasado es que vamos a donar a SACS / NALE...

Niño’s a la Escuela – Cada año, NALE ayuda a número mayor de chicos, dándoles los útiles escolares esenciales a una experiencia educativa. Cada alumno recibe una mochila que contiene los artículos necesarios para su nivel escolar, por ejemplo: cuadernos, papel, lápices, gomas – además de zapatos, medias y un guardapolvo.

So mark your calenders for 2pm Sunday the 1st of July. The event itself is very simple.

1. Tickets are $10 pesos
2. Chili tasters are worth 1 ticket and just about everything that will be offered by BACC will be worth one ticket.
3. Please bring change
4. There is no cover charge

Marquen su calendario. El evento es el 1 de julio a las 14 horas.  El evento en si es muy simple para ustedes:

1. Los cupones cuestan $10 pesos
2. Los bowls de chili cuestan 1 cupon (y casi todo lo que BACC ofrece va a costar 1 cupon)
3. Por favor vengan con cambio
4. No hay costo de entrada

There will be at least two ticket stands at the event. It is, or will be, in a working bar so you can purchase beer, water, wine to go with your chili from the bar.

Vamos a tener al menos dos puestos de venta de cupones. El lugar va a ser un bar asi que van a poder comprar cerveza, vino, agua o lo que deseen para acompañar su chili, pero eso se compra del bar.

Also Sugar & Spice will be there offering specialty cookies that are not normally available. Since this is a special event we want to bake special treats for you. This day is about showing off so Sugar & Spice wants to show off while contributing its profits to SACS / NALE.

Sugar & Spice va a estar presente con delicias exclusivas para el evento. Como esto es un evento especial, queremos hornear delicias especiales y exclusivas para poder donar la ganancia de estas ventas a la fundación SACS / NALE!
